NEWSFLASH - SEE NEWS PAGE FOR BBC PROMS IN THE PARK 2007 INFORMATION
TVYC is the foremost youth choir in the North of England and widely regarded as one of the finest in Great Britain. Its high reputation has remained constant since the choir was established in 1993 by John Forsyth (County Music Adviser for Cleveland at the time). Since then, invitations to perform at National and International events have been a regular feature.

Successful yearly European concert tours have taken the choir to Spain , Italy , Hungary , Slovakia , Belgium , France, Poland, and the Czech Republic.

As part of their busy schedule, the choir performed at the Sage, Gateshead in August 2006.

Also in 2006,  TVYC was successful in reaching the finals in the Youth category of the  BBC Radio 3 Choir of the year competition and also won a "wildcard" judges decision place through to the Grand Final (all categories). Both finals were held at the Cardiff Millennium Centre.

The choir had the unenviable task of singing first, in the Grand Final on December 10th, but they set the standard for the rest, and absolutely wowed the audience with a perfect rendition of Sing Joyfully (Byrd), Lully Lulla (Leighton) and Yver (Debussy).

The winning choir at the Grand Final (Chantage) was already adult choir of the year, and TVYC came 2nd, only separated by some 4.5 marks - 400 choirs entered the competition from the start almost a year ago (for other information see the BBC website).

Many TVYC members are also members of the award-winning Tees Valley Youth Orchestra, and other ensembles.

The choir welcomes new young musicians from the Tees Valley area ~ see About the Choir page for more information, and contacts.
